Project Angel is an overseas community service project initialized by the NUS Students’ Science Club. Our primary objective is to provide relief and help to disaster-hit areas or third world countries. In the process, we hope to enrich the lives of volunteers through experiences and reflection. Project Angel IX’s mission is to enter Win Kyan Village, 6 miles away from Hpa An town in the Kayin state of Myanmar. A team of 25 NUS volunteers will embark on Project Angel IX from 9 May – 30 May 2007. We will work with the locals to build a new primary school as well as to refurnish the school. We will also set up basic amenities such as toilet for the school. We will also share basic English with the students and teachers as well as set up libraries in 3 different primary schools in the village. We also hope to donate school uniforms and stationery for the students.
Donations and sponsporship from the public and companies are appreciated.
